We enjoyed a beautiful luncheon of eggplant parmesan, fettuccine alfredo, chicken Marsala, tiramisu, New York Style Cheesecake and more!
Irish, our president, opened the meeting. There were a lot of new faces. Invitations went out to all CPS teachers. Membership is $10 but was not required for this meeting. Thank you for attending. The meeting was sponsored by Children’s Plus at Maggiano's Little Italy’s Amarone Room, located 111 W. Grand Avenue, Chicago. We had an afternoon with Jacqueline Woodson. She is an award-winning author of books for children and young adults. We were especially pleased to welcome her as our keynote speaker. She is author of such notable titles as Show Way, a Newbery Honor book, Hush, a National Book Award Finalist, and Miracle’s Boys, a Coretta Scott King Award winner. Ms. Woodson discussed her new book Feathers which will be coming in the spring of 2007. We enjoyed an exciting presentation by this outstanding author and received an autographed signing and giveaway of her books in a beautifully designed tote bag. Jacqueline Woodson said that she write because "I believe there are so many stories to tell and so many people in the world who have historically not been a part of our literature".
