Our 2017-2018 schedule is in formation by our President Stacie Bell. Mailings are sent to members before each meeting at their e-mail address with full details and RSVP info., so please assure your e-mail address is accurate. Please note our “Idea Exchange.” Each meeting, we will spend 10 minutes sharing "Good News" ideas on the designated topic. Bring your ideas and hand-outs!

Book RoundupOCTOBER, 2017
Date and Time: Saturday, October 28 from 9:00-12:00
Place: Harold Washington Library Center, 400 S. State St. Enter on Plymouth Court, and go to Lower Level Multipurpose Room.
Host: Chicago Public Library's Children's Services
Program: Picture Book Roundup for new books since last April! Picture books are powerful and engaging illustrated texts. They can help children succeed in language arts, math, science, social studies, and the arts. Picture books appeal to children of all levels, interests, and learning styles. Join us for a ½ day informal professional development where we will read, discuss and share the latest and most noteworthy and best picture books. Refreshments will be provided. Date and Time: Holiday Get-Together on Thursday, December 14 from 5:30 to 8:30 for a full mexican menu dinner costing $20, including authentic soft drinks. Bring a bottle of wine, if desired. ~ Happy Holidays!
Place: Tortilleria Atotonilco Restaurant, 1637 S. Blue Island Av. Limited free off-street parking in adjacent garage or free street parking northeast of restaurant on Blue Island Av. or along 16th Street.

Note: Only current memberships are active. Memberships that expired last year are inactive and will not receive further communications. We need you! Please go to our Membership Page for more info. Nominations for all open 2018-2019 officer positions are welcome. Retiring members must contact Stacie Bell at slbell2@cps.edu for recognition at our May or June luncheon.

JUNE 2018
Date and Time: Saturday, June 2 from 9:00 to 11:00am
Place: Goethe Elementary School Library, 2236 N. Rockwell. Take the Fullerton Exit on the highway 90/94 (Kennedy Expressway) between California and Western Avenue on Fullerton Avenue. The school is also close to the California stop on the Blue Line. The school entrance will be the front (middle) door on Rockwell. Please park on Rockwell. The Goethe teacher-librarian and CTLA member is Marcia Mariscal.

Program: At this final meeting there will be no vendor presentation. Instead, fellow CPS Librarians will be presenting on Grant Writing. We are very excited to share ideas and help each other get started on funding for the next school year. This will be an excellent opportunity to get inspiration and hear from individuals who have already won thousands of dollars of extra funding for their library. We look forward to seeing you there!

Note: We will review elections for all open 2018-2019 officer positions. There is a proposal for CTLA to become a chapter of ISLMA/AISLE starting July 1.

Date and Time: Googlepolooza Day Friday, August 10.
Place: TBA- Sessions will be led by Googlers, Google Certified Trainers, and CPS teachers and administrators. Participants will have a choice between one-hour presentations or two-hour workshops at varied ability levels from foundational basics to advanced strategies and tools.
Host: CTLA
Program: "CTLAing" social event. We will look ahead to the new school year and strategize CTLA 2018-2019 meetings/activities and the status of school libraries and support resources, including our merger with ISLMA/AISLE! We especially hope all current and prospective officers can attend our "CTLAing" summer get-together planning session!
